Customer-Centred Logistics
Warehouse processes in transition: automation meets customer-centricity
Many organisations face challenges in fully automating or centralising their logistics processes. In today's fast-paced logistics landscape, this can lead to a drop in both customers and profit. The key to success is understanding customer behaviours and needs, and developing scalable, automated, long-term logistics solutions with the customer in mind. This is particularly important in e-commerce, where the end-customer is the 'orderer,' and needs are ever-fluctuating.
But this goes beyond automation. Data quality and the working environment are crucial to making your business truly customer-centric. Flexibility is increasingly important in a rapidly changing economy, and sustainability must be considered, from material handling and the energy used in transportation to delivery methods and logistics partners in the supply chain.

Implementation of Logistics 4.0
The client needed to increase warehouse space for secured growth, establish a central warehouse, and ensure increased profitability. This required relocating the IT infrastructure to the new warehouse and aligning the system solutions with the new processes in the manual central warehouse.
The implementation combined system development with the construction of the physical facility. We carried out separate and then combined tests of the system solution and the physical facility, concluding with performance tests, gradually moving more goods to the automation facility during a five-month ramp-up period.
The client successfully operationalised Sweden's largest warehouse in 2023, and implemented a leading automation solution for the plumbing and HVAC industry in a project – Log 4.0 – which has been praised as one of the best by the company's CEO, ensuring continued growth potential for several years, while providing flexibility for future needs.

Development of a new vision and strategy
The client's e-commerce and logistical volumes were growing, so they needed to restructure their business strategy for efficiency and ergonomics, increase their understanding of cost-effective solutions, and stay updated on and adapt to new technology and tools in warehouse logistics.
After a current-state analysis, critical focus areas were defined to increase productivity and ergonomics. With the help of suppliers and data from current processes, new concepts were created and evaluated based on direct and indirect costs, investment basis, and conditions. These concepts then formed the basis for the future roadmap and an investment plan.
The pre-study resulted in a vision and strategy for future warehouse processes, technological support, and organisation. It produced a report serving as a decision basis with a realistic roadmap, investment considerations, and a business case for the short, medium, and long term. This includes necessary changes, estimated investment costs, and a description of the effects on operations.
